Opened in 1907, the Macon was the 11th Carnegie library in Brooklyn. The two-story Classical Revival red brick library retains its original fireplaces, oak paneling, alcoves and wooden benches. The collection "Preserving Footsteps" has books concerning the history, famous locations and current situation of the neighborhood. The African American Heritage Center (AAHC) here contains material on African-American history and culture. It also has material on the Caribbean and Africa. For more branch information, click here.
