The Alliance for the Arts (“AFTA”) is committed to protecting your privacy.  This Privacy Policy will advise you about how AFTA protects your personal information and about what choices you have concerning the use of that information.  Please read this policy carefully.

The Information AFTA Collects and How AFTA Uses It

AFTA collects personal information when you register for email products from AFTA.

When you register we ask for information such as your name, email address, and affiliation. Once you register and sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us.

AFTA uses information for the following general purposes: to improve our services, contact you, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external recipients.

Information Shared With Third Parties

In addition, AFTA may employ outside agents, meaning other companies or individuals to perform functions on its behalf, such as sending postal mail and e-mail, and analyzing data.  These AFTA agents have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.  Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, AFTA keeps all of your personal information private and will not share it with any third party unless, you have authorized AFTA to do so or AFTA is legally required to do so.  AFTA may also release personal information when it believes, in good faith, that such release is reasonably necessary to enforce or apply the provisions of its Terms of Use or to protect the rights, property or safety of AFTA, its users, or others.

AFTA retains the right to transfer your personal information to a successor in interest pursuant to a change of control of AFTA or a sale of all or substantially all of AFTA’s assets.

Editing Your Personal Information

You may edit and/or delete your Alliance for the Arts Account Information by sending an email to us at publications@allianceforarts.org. Our email communications provide you with an explicit method to unsubscribe from receiving further email communications.

We reserve the right to send you certain communications relating to the Alliance for the Arts' services, such as service announcements, administrative messages and the Alliance for the Arts Newsletter, which are considered part of your Alliance for the Arts account, without offering you the opportunity to opt out of receiving them.

Security of Your Information

The Site has security measures in place intended to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under AFTA’s control.  AFTA uses industry standard encryption to help ensure that all the personal information you provide is encrypted and remains private.  This helps to maintain the confidentiality of your information.  AFTA strives to protect your personal information, however, AFTA cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to AFTA.

Demographic Information

Demographic and profile data may be collected at the Site, including without limitation, the number of parties registered on the Site, the number of guests and the number and kinds of charities.  AFTA may post such information in the aggregate, without the disclosure of personally identifying information, on the Site or provide such information to third parties, including potential donors.

AFTA may use cookies to improve your experience at the Site.  “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes.  The cookies AFTA uses in and of themselves do not personally identify users, although they do identify a user’s computer as well as the first name of the person logging in.  AFTA may use cookies to remember information users give to AFTA so they don’t have to reenter it each time they visit the Site.  You are always free to decline the cookies if your browser permits.  Even without a cookie, you will still be able to use most of the features on the Site.

AFTA does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 16 years of age.

This Privacy Policy will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to any principles of conflicts of law.  You agree that any action at law or in equity that arises out of or relates to any use of the Site will be filed only in the state or federal courts located in New York County and you hereby consent and submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts for the purposes of litigating any such action.
