The Metropolitan Opera's foremost goal is to present the highest-quality performances of grand opera each season featuring the world's most talented artists and conductors. The Met is committed to presenting works from the broadest range of the operatic repertory and making its programs available to a wide audience through national and international broadcasts on radio and television, free summer performances in parks in the New York metropolitan area, and educational programs for students and aspiring young singers.
Rush Tickets
Two hours before curtain time for regular performances Monday through Thursday (excluding galas, special events, and opening nights), the Met box office sells 200 orchestra seats for $20 (50 of these tickets are are set aside for senior citizens). Learn more

Seniors Discounts
Through the support of two patrons, senior citizens (65 and up) can reserve $20 tickets to select performances held Monday through Thursday by calling (212) 362-6000 punctually at 12 pm on the day of the performance. This offer is restricted to two tickets per order, and proof of age is required when tickets are picked up at the box office. Fifty of these tickets are reserved for these performances.
Student Discount
$25 weekday performances, $35 Fri/Sat performances. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the box office; two tickets per student ID; subject to availability; offer only available for full-time students under the age of 30
