Don your pith helmet or, failing that, your baseball cap, be on the lookout for wild animals and shoot---with your camera, of course. Depending on the season, you'll trek over the African Plains area of the park, take the Wild Asia Monorail and wend your way through the lush, fragrant, sonorous tropical rainforest. All without leaving the Bronx!

The Bronx Zoo is the spectacular 265-acre home to more than 4,000 animals, including some of the world's most endangered species. The nation's largest urban zoo features Siberian tigers, Asian elephants, Indian rhinos and a host of other animals in spacious, naturalistic habitats. The Children's Zoo provides a fun and interactive opportunity for children to gain a better understanding of animals through such activities as crawling through prairie dog tunnels, listening to sounds through fox ears and climbing giant spider webs, all kid-sized.

Indoor exhibits include JungleWorld with butterflies, tree kangaroos, monkeys and snakes; the World of Darkness, where bats and other nocturnal creatures are wide awake and in motion; the World of Reptiles; and the Mouse House.

The zoo is the home of The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), an international conservation organization, protecting and promoting a world rich in wildlife and wilderness. WCS manages over 300 field projects in 53 countries and develops environmental education programs for schools in the United States and abroad.
