The Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series presents free musical concerts that reflect the African-American contribution to our cultural heritage. During the summer, usually in July and August, seven concerts are staged (weather permitting) at Brooklyn’s Wingate Field. The series began in 1982.

The visitor can hear a variety of forms here, including jazz, gospel and the blues. In 2009 shared performer evenings include Anita Baker and Charlie Wilson, Teena Marie and Jeffrey Osborne, and The Mighty Sparrow and Sean Paul.

The public is encouraged to bring their own chairs because seating is limited.
