Carnegie Hall is the standard against which all other American concert halls are judged, due to both its superb acoustics and its long history of attracting the world's most outstanding instrumentalists, conductors, orchestras and vocalists. It has also been a beacon to prominent dancers, politicians and crusaders.
From Gustav Mahler to Jessye Norman, from John Philip Sousa to Frank Sinatra, from Booker T. Washington to Woodrow Wilson and from Ignace Jan Paderewski to Luciano Pavarotti, Carnegie Hall has hosted them all. The Rose Museum, located on the second floor of 154 West 57th Street, is open during the concert season and offers historic artifacts of the hall's first 100 years and an array of visiting exhibits. Group tours are possible and can be custom-designed.
