To acclimate kids to new ways of looking and discussing what they see, grown-up museums are tailoring programs to young people and their families. It's a great way to groom future museum-goers and artists.

BAM is America's oldest performing arts center and a leading presenter of the avant-garde. Since opening in 1861, it has presented the finest in performing arts. The renowned performers who have appeared at BAM include Isadora Duncan, Enrico Caruso, Sarah Bernhardt and Arturo Toscanini, and contemporary counterparts such as Pina Bausch, Merce Cunningham, Steve Reich and Philip Glass. 

BAM continues to develop and present a unique roster of traditional and contemporary dance, theater, music, opera and film, placing particular emphasis on artists of international stature who have a cutting-edge artistic vision. Four theaters showcase the acclaimed Next Wave Festival for new work‚ BAM's fall flagship event focusing on artists probing new and emerging areas of the performing arts‚ as well as programs ranging from classical music to circus arts and from Shakespeare to African dance.

Student Rush Tickets
Present a valid student ID and proof of age (25 and under) on day of show for up to two tickets to movies or performances. Subject to availability. Call BAM Ticket Services [(718)636-4100] beginning at 3 pm the day of show to confirm that student rush will be offered. Come to the BAM Box Office no earlier than 90 minutes prior to the performance time to purchase tickets.
Senior Rush Tickets
BAM visitors 65 and older can get two discounted tickets to any live performance or film screening. Call BAM Ticket Services [(718) 636-4100] beginning at 3 pm the day of a live performance to confirm that senior rush will be offered. Come to the BAM Box Office no earlier than 90 minutes prior to the performance time to purchase tickets.
Ticket Assistance Program (TAP)
Ticket Assistance Program (TAP) provides organizations serving underserved families and at-risk youth free and discounted tickets to BAM events. To apply for TAP tickets, fax a request on your organization's letterhead to (718) 857-2021 (Attention: Dewonnie) or e-mail Dfrederick@BAM.org.

Members of the gym Crunch get a two-year Friends of BAM membership for the price of one.

  • On-Site Parking: BAM has two parking lots. Lot 1 is on Ashland Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue, between the main BAM building and the BAM Harvey Theater; lot 2 is off the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Ashland Place, with an entrance on Ashland Place.
