The Staten Island Ferry transports on average 60,000 people (no cars) between Staten Island and Manhattan daily and provides views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Manhattan skyline, at no cost to passengers.

Each leg of the ferry takes 30 minutes. Passengers simply taking a round-trip excursion must disembark and reboard. The terminal in Staten Island is called St. George and is located at One Bay Street. It is served by buses and the Staten Island commuter railway. Inquiries about the ferry can be made by dialing 311 within New York City.

 

  • Directions: Nearest Subways to Staten Island Ferry: In Manhattan, 1 to South Ferry; 4 or 5 to Bowling Green; W, R to Whitehall Street. In Staten Island, Staten Island Railway to St. George
  • Disability Access: Terminals and boats are fully accessible. Riders in wheelchairs are permitted to board on the lower level.
