928 Simpson Street
Few cultural organizations in the city integrate the performing arts with public life in the way Dancing in the Streets does. Performances by innovative artists crop up in the most unusual places—Grand Central Terminal, Coney Island, Central Park, the Astoria Pool, 19th-century warehouses on Brooklyn piers—drawing attention to exceptional architecture and natural settings with the added benefit of bringing the performing arts to new audiences. Highlights of past productions include Rat-a-Tat-Tap, a citywide festival of percussive music and dance; the Almost Citywide Dance Festival; and On the Waterfront, featuring local schoolchildren and senior citizens.
