Lincoln Center is the preeminent performing arts complex in the United States at which children can have a field day participating in a mixture of ticketed and free performances and learning experiences. Each of its resident organizations, ranging from Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to the New York City Ballet and Jazz at Lincoln Center, offers a host of school and family programs. Each August, as part of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, there is a series of free family performances crossing genres and showcasing talent from around the world who really know how to engage young audiences.
In its halls, one can attend performances of the country's most venerable opera company (the Metropolitan Opera) and symphony orchestra (the New York Philharmonic); the dance company that changed the way ballet is danced worldwide (the New York City Ballet); an international film festival and year-round cinemathèque (the Film Society of Lincoln Center); and a theater company that brings new life to the classics and first breath to new plays (the Lincoln Center Theater). Add to these the "people's opera" that is the New York City Opera, the high art on a small scale of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the coolest of classic and modern from Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Hearing: Assistive listening systems, sign language interpretation.
Vision: Blind or low vision accessible. Large-type and Braille house programs are distributed free of charge for performances of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival, Lincoln Center Festival and Great Performers series, as well as for New York Philharmonic, Jazz at Lincoln and Chamber Music Society concerts. To receive an accessibility guide in print, Braille or on tape, or inquire about other accessibility information, call (212) 875-5375 or TTY (212) 875-5409.
