Kid Fun in Grown-Up Museums

Art museums are smart. They know that in terms of creativity and imagination, kids have a lot in common with the artists featured on their walls. To acclimate kids to new ways of looking and discussing what they see, grown-up museums are tailoring programs to young people and their families. It's a great way to groom future museum-goers and artists.

Theater for a New Audience has inspired and educated students since 1979 with performances at St. Clement's Church (423 West 46th Street) and the New Victory Theater. Its repertory of award-winning classical and modern plays is performed by a multi-ethnic ensemble, with a commitment to nontraditional casting. This company, whose well-respected productions of Shakespeare feature actors and directors in the early stages of their careers, appeals to diverse audiences, including elementary and high school students, as well as adults.
