There's good reason the exterior of this theater looks like a theme park: It once was. The esteemed architect Philip Johnson designed it as part of the 1964 New York World's Fair and it housed a cycloramic film tribute to New York State.
Whatever your fancy—musicals, plays, dance, concerts or film—it's all available at Queens Theatre in the Park. The organization is home to both the Independence Savings Bank Children's Series and productions of On Stage, Ltd., and sponsors the Independent Film Showcase, featuring commercially undistributed films from groundbreaking filmmakers. Performances are held at either the spacious, yet intimate Main Stage Theatre or the smaller cabaret/black box studio. Queens Theatre in the Park is a program of the Queens Council on the Arts.
