The Police Museum collects, preserves and interprets objects related to the history of the New York Police Department (NYPD) and provides information about the department's history through exhibitions, lectures by working cops and detectives, online exhibitions, publications and events in the public schools.
On display are flintlock pistols, police rattles (precursors to today's whistles), shields and badges used before and after 1898 consolidation of all the outer boroughs, cameras used for mug shots and at crime scenes, a review of vehicle types used by NYPD over the years, a drug awareness exhibit and the memorial wall, dedicated to the hundreds of officers who have given their lives in service to the city and its residents.

Sat, June 9, 2012 The Police Museum’s largest event of the year returns. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to view a piece of New York City’s history when the Police Museum displays classic patrol vehicles used by New York’s finest at its 12th annual Car Show.
