Founded in 1977 and having relocated to its new building on the Bowery in 2007, the New Museum shows work and explores ideas and issues that are experimental, nontraditional or might not otherwise have a venue. Focusing primarily on work of the past ten years by living artists, the museum reaches out to a broad audience through exhibitions, publications, and education and library programs.
