Tour the museum that toured the world! The World War II aircraft carrier USS Intrepid participated in many Pacific campaigns. Today, the Intrepid no longer makes history but rather helps illustrate it and America's technological capabilities on the sea, in the air and in space. The museum contains five exhibition halls housing more than 70 aircraft, rockets, space capsules and satellites—the real thing and reproductions—as well as continuously showing films, videos and multimedia displays, and hundreds of artifacts, models and dioramas. In addition to touring restored areas of the ship, visitors may also visit the USS Growler, the world's only guided missile submarine open to the public.
