Hours

Tues – Sun: 10 am – 5 pm

Admission is free on every third Thursday from 4:00–7:00 pm and on the first full weekend of every month from 2:00–5:00 pm, except on holiday weekends. (Does not apply to school, camp, or other organized groups.)
The museum has several permanent exhibitions. In World Brooklyn, kids can design a carnival costume for the West Indian Day Parade, make fake pizzas in an Italian restaurant, ring up groceries at an international grocery and dance in the Chinese New Year parade.

Neighborhood Nature invites kids on a trek through the natural habitats found in the midst of the city, from wooldand fields to ocean tide pools.

Collections Central features items from the museum's collection of 30,000 objects. Children can pilot a boat down the Amazon, reconstruct a shattered bowl like an archeologist, discover patterns in objects and use touch alone to identify mystery objects.

Outside the museum's Commons Theater are photographs reflecting the architectural, cultural and geographical diversity of central Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Crown Heights. The works from photographers ages 10 to 71 include scenes from a barber shop, a block party picnic, a senior center, picturesque streets and more.
