Action Center to End World Hunger
This after-school program focuses on global issues such as hunger, climate change, health, poverty and access to education. Students will learn how these issues are affecting us both on a global and local level in New York City. Every month will have a different educational theme and excursion. The program will culminate with an awareness-raising project to be completed at each student’s school. Topics will coincide with Global Citizen Corps Action Days which are based on internationally recognized campaigns and movements.
Monthly Topics:
March: Global Health - A Healthy World is a Better World. Including a continued exploration of sanitation and disease prevention in Haiti, as well as obesity and diabetes in New York City and food justice (access to quality food) in the U.S.
April: Climate Change - Is it Me, or Is It Hot in Here?
With exhibitions, interactive stations and talks, the Action Center welcomes visitors to learn about global hunger and poverty how the public can combat these issues. School groups are welcome.

Garden for Change, After School
Ongoing This after-school program focuses on global issues such as hunger, climate change, health, poverty and access to education. Students will learn how these issues are affecting us both on a global and local level in New York City. Every month will have a different educational theme and excursion.
Ongoing Students will analyze the role of conflict and war as a cause of hunger in the country of Afghanistan. Specific attention will be placed on the role of access to education as a means for fighting poverty, and reestablish a country’s system of governance.
Ongoing Students will learn about Indonesia’s recent political history, initiatives the government is taking to empower its citizens and how collaboration between government and citizen groups can greatly improve lives.
