The museum's permanent collection of over 2,000 paintings and drawings of children’s art from around the world are exhibited on a rotating basis. Up to 40 framed works are hung throughout the museum at any given time. Nations represented include China, India, Pakistan, Argentina, Norway, Australia, Indonesia, Senegal and Russia.

Still to be exhibited are 19 rare works done by children during the 1938 Works Progress Administration (WPA) Children's Art Project. Seen through the expressive viewpoint only children can create, these works are a unique view into New York City’s style, architecture and landmarks of the 1930s.

    Wed, June 6, 2012 – Thurs, Aug 30, 2012 CMA is providing free hands-on arts programming in Hudson River Park all summer. They will bring a wide variety of art-making and art-appreciation activities to Pier 25 from June 6-August 30, with options for ages 1-15.
