Now in its 23rd year, Los Pleneros de la 21's Bomba and Plena Community Workshops (BPCW) are  weekly Saturday classes and activities for students and individuals of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds. Learn dynamic drumming, song, dance, visual arts and performance practice training from October through June. 
 
Classes are held at the  Julia de Burgos Cultural Center (1680 Lexington Avenue between 105th and 106th street). Registration for the BPCW starts on September 24 and will continue through the official start of the BPCW on October 15. Class spaces are limited. Enrollment for youth programs (ages 2.5 through 17) is open and continues through January 7, 2012. Spaces are limited, pre-registration is highly recommended. Walk-ins are welcomed for Adults’ programs throughout the year.

Specific classroom groups are: 
 
CHESPIRITOS - children 2.5- 5 yers old (in a unique parent-child learning format) 
 
CHAMACOS -  6-11 years old 
JOVENES - 12-17 years old
ADULTOS – 18+

Every year, the BPCW continues to grow and offers exciting and new program services and learning for participants. This year, the BPCW returns offering unique performing opportunities, internship programs for participating youth, field trips and other extracurricular activities.

Through a unique combination of accessible community programs and touring performances, Los Pleneros de la 21 (LP21) fosters the awareness, appreciation and practice of Puerto Rican cultural expressions, particularly those of the African Diaspora.
