  • Prospect Park

    Brooklyn

    The 585-acre park is one of the finest creations of the landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. Begun in 1866, it has a 60-acre lake on its east side, the 90-acre Long Meadow on the west and Brooklyn's last remaining original woodlands (the Ravine) in between.

    Central Park

    Manhattan

    At 2.5 miles long and a half-mile wide, the park is the largest work of art in New York City. In addition to playgrounds and landscaped areas, it holds a zoo, carousel, "castle" and woodlands.

  • Central Park—Belvedere Castle

    Manhattan

    Designed in 1867 as a castle scaled down to look remote, this Central Park landmark has been the site of the city's weather station since 1919, and was reincarnated in 1996 as the Henry Luce Nature Observatory.

    Central Park Conservancy

    Manhattan

    The Central Park Conservancy, is the caretaker of America's most-frequented urban park. Its educational programs to teach ecology, design and park stewardship to 30,000 students and teachers annually; and offers recreational programs for people of all ages at the North Meadow Recreation Center.

  • Central Park–Dairy Visitor Center and Gift Shop

    Manhattan

    The Dairy is a Gothic Revival structure located between the Zoo and the Carousel. Built in 1870, it serves as the park's information center and houses exhibits about the design, architecture and history of the park. The Dairy offers educational events, tours for adults, concerts and exhibits.

  • Chess and Checkers House

    Manhattan

    This house hosts not only chess and checker games for the public, but also special events run by the Central Park Conservancy.
