    The museum interprets the history of the famous retirement home, Sailors’ Snug Harbor, in a fully rehabilitated former dormitory erected in 1841, now a National Historic Landmark. Permanent exhibitions focus on the history of Sailors’ Snug Harbor and include a typical dormitory room and the Writing Room, with original furnishings.

    Vander Ende-Onderdonk House

    Queens

    The Vander Ende-Onderdonk House has gone through many changes since it was built by the Dutch farmer Paulus Vander Ende in 1709. In addition to providing shelter for the Vander Ende and Onderdonk families, it has served as a livery stable, a speakeasy, an office and, most recently, a factory for parts for the Apollo space program.
