    Brooklyn Public Library

    This library system--the fifth largest in the country--serves more than six million people each year. The famous Central Library, whose building resembles an open book, is the main reference center and the core of a borough-wide system with 58 branches in as many neighborhoods.

    Sun closed

    This branch contains international language collections in French and Haitian Creole.

  • Canarsie Branch—Brooklyn Public Library

    Wed: 1-8 pm
    Thurs: 1-6 pm
    Sat: 10 am-5 pm

  • Carroll Gardens Branch—Brooklyn Public Library

    The library moved in 1905 to its current Carnegie building, designed by William B. Tubby. Carnegie libraries were built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie. The branch also has materials in Chinese. For more information, click here.

  • Castle Hill Branch—New York Public Library

    Bronx

    Mon & Wed: 11 am-7 pm
    Tues, Thurs: 12 pm-6 pm
    Fri: 12 pm-5 pm
    Sat: 10 am-5 pm

    The Castle Hill Branch of the New York Public Library, a modern spacious brick building located on Castle Hill Avenue near the corner of Bruckner Boulevard, was opened in July 1981. Fully accessible to persons who use wheelchairs, the one story facility houses an adult, young adult and children's collection. A multi-use meeting room is available for community group meetings as well as library programs.
